Tears of Ra

Artwork in Progress

January 13 - March 22, 2016

I had finally finished my illustration, "Tears of Ra". This drawing took me a few months to finish because I am still having issues with my right hand and arm. Facing this condition, I am still teaching myself how to draw with my left hand due to my right arm and hand pain. Within this drawing, I had alternated from my right and left hand. The illustration itself is hand drawn mostly with my right hand, first with graphite pencil, then with a fine-tipped ink pen. The pointillism coloration and shading was created using both my left and right hands. Since I am still learning to draw with my left and having pains in my right, it took me some time to complete, however, I persevered, the artwork is completed, and it is also available for sale in my art shop as well as art prints. Now I am moving onto another project to create!

Ra, the sun god, cried and from once Ra's tear drop hit the ground it transformed into a honey bee. Once born, the honey bee then visited all the flowers and produced honey. Ancient Egyptians created many things with the honey and combs such as candles, food sweetener, medicines, ointments, and sometimes used during mummification because of this, bees where very important to the ancient Egyptian culture. So far in the illustration I have Ra's tears hitting the ground and a honey bee being born. I have added a few things to my illustration since my last post and am going to start drawing it in ink today. - See more at: http://artaffective.com/blog/art-and-my-back-pain/#sthash.XSqCzGC7.dpuf
