"California Sunsets", miniature ink-pen drawings by artist Monica Gunderson
Mini-California Sunset Drawings
For the past few weeks I have been working on miniature ink-pen drawings of California sunsets on mini-canvases at the size of two inches high and two inches wide. I am planning on creating a bunch of sunset drawings depicting California icons, national and state parks. I live in the Central Valley of California and have been calling this state my home for about eighteen years. I truly love being able to be so close to many beautiful places. In a few hours I can be at the beach, the mountains, San Francisco, and various other beautiful places within the state of California. The differences in geography are just stunning and I would like to share my depictions of some of the beautiful places that I have been throughout this golden state that I call home. So far I have drawn Pfeiffer State Beach which is located in Big Sur State Park, Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Yosemite National Park, and a Giant Sequoia Redwood Tree. Once I have completed the entire set, I am thinking of placing them all together in a shadow box frame. I may even make a larger picture by using all the small drawings combined to depict something that represents California such as the grizzly bear that is seen on the California state flag. Since I have only created four of these mini-drawings and currently working on a fifth mini-drawing, I am still in the thought process of the overall outcome.
If you have any ideas of California icons, national or state parks that you would like for me to draw next, please feel free to add your thoughts in the discussion below.
