The Story Behind the Art:

Baba Yaga is from an old Slavic folktale and was one of my favorite stories my mother would read to me when I was a little girl. Baba Yaga is an old witch who is short in stature, has strangely hair, boney legs, a long crooked nose, and has sharp iron blade teeth. She lives in a house with chicken legs, and she wills for it to walk anywhere she likes in the forests. In the past, parents had warned their children about not wandering in the forest, because Baba Yaga eats children. There are many stories about Baba Yaga some depicting her as an evil crone child-eating witch and others where she is still an evil conniving witch but provides important insight and wisdom.

Out of all the stories about Baba Yaga, my favorite is "Baba Yaga and the Little Girl".
